Lily met Dylan when she was six or seven. He was her brother's best mate, and she was the little sister who always had a crush on him. Years later, with Lily back in Auckland after dancing overseas, they bumped into each other over summer. In Lily's words, the rest is history.

On 10 June 2018, Dylan proposed at the Te Waha Point lookout at Piha, the beach they both grew up near. Margot, their Italian greyhound, came along. She hates the cold and wasn't thrilled about being dragged up the hill.

After a run of beautiful but very hot summer weddings, they decided to marry in winter. They wanted something intimate, with the feeling of home comfort and style, and they found it at French Bay Yacht Club: a mid-50s interior with warm timber and clean lines. Sue Cameron of Floral Stylist filled it with deep reds, soft blush pink and white. Lily is an interior designer, and she planned and styled the day herself.

Their celebrant was Keri Edley, Lily's old dance teacher. She helped them choreograph a first dance to Canned Heat by Jamiroquai, and Lily was shocked by how much Dylan enjoyed the lessons.

This was one of our first weddings, and we were so happy to be part of it. It was a cold winter day, and we parked the caravan outside the club with Lily and Dylan's names on the chalkboard and cooked three pastas, all gluten free, as always:

  • Pumpkin and goat cheese ravioli with herbed butter, lemon zest and parmesan
  • Baked ricotta and mozzarella rotolo with cherry tomato and basil sauce
  • Tagliatelle with meat ragù

Lily's message to Tommy afterwards made our week:

"Thank you so much for catering our wedding! We had nothing but rave reviews from all of our guests. They absolutely loved your pasta. I believe a few business cards were taken!! We will be sure to recommend you guys to anyone looking for food truck ideas!"

Their wedding was later featured in Together Journal (issue 19), and we're proud to be in the list of vendors. Congratulations again, Lily and Dylan.
