They dreamed of getting married in Italy. When Covid had other plans, they did what any couple with a deep love of Italy would do — they brought Italy to New Zealand instead.
A private property in Ti Point, 60 guests, bespoke green damask tablecloths, miniature bottles of limoncello as name cards, and a local Italian couple serving homemade pasta. That was us.
Elle and Sam wanted little touches of Italy everywhere, and we were honoured to be one of them. The evening flowed from a beautiful spread of canapés — mushroom arancini with truffle mayo, Vitello Tonnato, and potato and prosciutto croquettes — into a generous charcuterie and burrata board before dinner.
Pasta was served family style: ravioli filled with ricotta and spinach in a tomato and basil sauce, and spaghetti with prosciutto, lemon and cream. Meatballs and two salads — a classic with walnuts, apple and feta, and a Panzanella with crostini — completed the feast.
