Some love stories begin at home, then travel the world before finding their way back. Chloe and Mitchell, two Kiwis living in London, flew home to Matakana to say their vows — and what a homecoming it was.

They chose the charming chapel in the heart of Matakana village for their ceremony, a beautiful white timber church that felt both timeless and deeply New Zealand. Outside, their guests spilled onto the steps cheering and raising glasses as the newlyweds emerged into the summer sun.

The reception unfolded at Six One Five Matakana, a sleek modern venue wrapped in greenery, where Save the Date NZ had created something warm, intentional and full of personality — deep burgundy florals by Twig & Bloom, dramatic bows, a champagne tower, and an atmosphere that felt effortlessly European.

For the food, Chloe and Mitchell chose Amaranto to bring a true taste of Italy to their table. Guests were welcomed with arancini, crocchette and bruschetta as the Amaranto caravan settled into its spot beneath the apple trees. Then came the Bis di Primi — ricotta and spinach ravioli in a tomato and basil sauce alongside gnocchi with a slow-cooked white lamb ragù. To finish, our tiramisu was carried through the garden on trays as the afternoon golden hour settled over the hills.

It was the kind of day that feels both carefully crafted and completely alive — full of laughter, good food, and people who had travelled far to be together.
